The “2005 Charming Jiangsu--- Foreigners’ Chinese Artistic Talents Contest” brought us together, and this year’s contest is to further deepen the friendship among people of various nationalities. Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation and Jiangsu Foreign Affairs Office will jointly launch the “2006 Glamorous Jiangsu----Foreigners’ Chinese Artistic Talents Contest” between September and December, inviting foreign friends to tell their impressive stories, stage their Chinese artistic performance and share their happiness with the audience.
        Details of the contest
        The 2006 Glamorous Jiangsu----Foreigners’ Chinese Artistic Talents Contest, to be held between late September and mid December, is a series of competitions organized by the Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation (JSBC) especially for the talented foreign friends living, working or studying in Jiangsu. The application forms and rules of the contest can be downloaded from www.jsbc.com . Candidates are expected to contact Wang Pan, Yang Fan, Cai Yuan, Shen Qianyi and Shi Manli at 025-83195183 (telephone) for detailed information. Application forms should be either faxed to 025-83195108, or sent to art_jsbc@hotmail.com via e-mails from September 28th to October 31st 2006.
        Expected interested parties include foreign guests living in Jiangsu, capable of communicating in Chinese and interested in Chinese culture. Candidates are expected to give programs including singing, dancing, folk arts, traditional Chinese musical instrument performance, martial art, painting, calligraphy or other forms of traditional Chinese arts, each with a 10-minute time limit. Interested Jiangsu people with Chinese nationality are also welcome to take part in the non-competitive section to present their artistic talents related to foreign cultures.
        As a sub-event of the serial activities, the organizers also call for true stories showcasing the unbreakable bound between foreign friends and Jiangsu Province. Please send us your stories via e-mail or fax to voice your love for her friendly people, tell your understanding of her cultural heritage, describe your contribution to her development and express your hope for her future progress. On the basis of the ten most impressive stories, we will make TV specials that will be aired during the final gala to showcase the enhancing exchange and cooperation between Jiangsu province and the whole world.
        Candidates will be assessed by strict judges in preliminaries, semifinal, final and will be awarded accordingly with regular awards as well as individual awards ranging from the best performance, the best costume to the best style.
        DVs of the personal talent show, made by the candidates themselves, will be appraised in the preliminary lasting from late September to late October 2006. Candidates should either hand or send the DVs over to the International Department of Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation before October 31. Then all the DVs will be appraised by the experts and celebrities in the circle of art and culture from around Jiangsu province at JSBC, and outstanding contestants will be qualified to enter the semifinal that will be staged in early or mid November in Nanjing. Name list of the semifinalists will be posted on www.jsbc.com before November 10 2006, and the organizers will call and e-mail all the semifinalists to inform them of the qualification and the details of the upcoming semifinal. Finally, the most eye-catching performers will be invited to the studio of the Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation to stage their wonderful artistic shows in the final slated for early or mid December. Name list of the finalists will be posted on www.jsbc.com before December 10 2006, and the organizers will call and e-mail all the finalists to inform them of the qualification and the rules of the final. Renowned artists, public celebrities and provincial leaders will be invited to be the judges, and the final will be aired on Jiangsu Satellite Channel during the 2007 New Year Holiday.
        As for participants coming to Nanjing for the semifinal and final rehearsal and competition, the travel and accommodation costs related to the contest will be at the expense of the organizer Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation.
